What a difference a year makes ………
What a difference a pandemic makes!
Last year at MetroWest Free Medical Program, we provided care in more than 2000 patient visits in General Medicine, Psychiatry and Vision to hard working people, including many immigrants, who had either lost their insurance, were underinsured, or for whom insurance was not a benefit of their jobs.
When it became clear that for everyone’s safety, we needed to close our doors to in-person visits, Rick, our Executive Director, appealed to our funders for emergency resources to allow our staff and volunteers to transition to a remote access model of care.
We increased our web presence adding Covid-19 resources, access for testing, and additional medical and general resources. We set up a medication renewal process and tele-health access to our physicians and practitioners in General Medicine, Psych Services, and Women’s Health and Vision. We were able to do what we have always done – provide high quality care to people regardless of their ability to pay.
At MetroWest Free Medical Program, all services that we provide are free.
Transitioning to remote care has required the dedication of our staff and volunteers coordinating a multi-system process involving nurses, interpreters, physicians and practitioners, staff and volunteers, implementing and delivering care to our thousands of patients.
Now we need your support to continue our work. Please consider supporting the vital work that we do at MetroWest Free Medical Program with a charitable donation.
From the patients we serve and all of us volunteers at MetroWest Free Medical Program, Thank You.
Best Wishes for the Holiday Season !
With warmest regards,
David J. Bechtel, M.D.
