Title: Clinic Nurse for Adult Medicine 


Reports to: Clinical Coordinator for Adult Medicine, Medical Director and Executive Director


Location: Marlborough, Massachusetts


The MetroWest Free Medical Program (MWFMP) is looking for a warm, compassionate, highly- organized clinic nurse for our Adult Medicine clinic. The individual in this position will need to be both flexible and organized, able to balance many competing priorities, and coordinate and inspire a team of passionate, dedicated volunteers. 


The MetroWest Free Medical Program has been providing free care to uninsured and underinsured 

paCents since 2004. Our services include Adult Medicine, Women!s Health, and Vision Care. We deliver care through a combination of in-person services and virtual care. We are a critical part of the patient safety net in the area West of Boston. The majority of our patients are Brazilian and Portuguese speaking and have difficulty accessing care. 


Today is both a challenging and exciting for our non-profit organization. We continue to have a high demand for services by patients who have difficulty or are unable to access medical care in other settings except for the emergency room. The ideal candidate will have experience working in this setting.  The clinic nurse will run the Checkout function and manage the Tuesday evening Adult Medicine clinic in Marlborough. The position requires supporting a team of dedicated clinic staff and volunteers, working with physicians and clinical staff to provide patient medical care as well as case management and referrals, and collaboration with our Women!s Health and Vision clinic teams during the Tuesday evening hours. 


The clinic nurse will use athenaNet during the clinic primarily during Checkout. 


The clinic nurse's presence will be required at evening clinics on Tuesdays from 4:30-9:30 p.m, three to four times per month.


Job Responsibilities and Duties include: 

  1. Develop, implement. and manage clinical operations workflow using athenaNet during the evening clinic. Advise updates to the Nurse Clinical Coordinator for Adult Medicine.
     
  2. Manage on-site activities for Tuesday evening clinics, three to four nights per month
     
  3. Run Checkout during the clinic.
     
  4. Use athenaNet where appropriate.
     
  5. Ensure a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for patient well-being.
     

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts. Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required. Applicants must be passionate about working with both clinical and nonclinical staff and volunteers and be able to provide respectful, compassionate care to patients of all backgrounds. Fluency or proficiency in Portuguese preferred. Proficiency in English required. Fluency or proficiency in Spanish is a plus. 


Experienced nurses with excellent communication skills are welcome to apply. We are looking for a flexible, creative nurse for this role, with a strong desire to serve a vulnerable patient population  in the MetroWest area. We prefer candidates familiar with MassHealth and uninsured patients and awareness of the needs of this population. 


Work Environment:   Interior Office/Medical Setting.


Physical activity.  Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours on clinic days.
